The guest speaker for our upcoming meeting will be Barry Jacobs, noted freelance sports writer. He has authored five books, 14 basketball annuals, nominations to the National Register, and hundreds of articles on sports, history, and the environment for newspapers (including 20 years for the New York Times), magazines, and the Internet. His books include:
• Across the Line: Profiles In Basketball Courage: Tales Of The First Black Players In The ACC and SEC
• Coach K’s Little Blue Book, Revised and Updated: Lessons From College Basketball’s Best Coach
• Golden Glory: The First 50 Years of the Acc
• Three Paths to Glory: A Season on the Hardwood With Duke, N.C. State, and North Carolina
In addition to writing, Barry has served on and chaired the Orange County Planning Board and the Board of Directors of OWASA. He was first elected to the Orange County Board of Commissioners in 1998 and reelected in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014.
